Cattle at Exposición Rural de Palermo

The Sociedad Rural Argentina has held its livestock show in the Palermo district of Buenos Aires since 1875, now on the showground known as La Rural. For eleven days in July the city meets the countryside: breeders bring their best bulls and cows, the grand champions of the beef breeds are judged before large crowds, and auctions follow. Argentina's beef herd was built on British breeds brought in the nineteenth century, and the show still centres on them, along with the Criollo, descended from the cattle of the Spanish colonists. There are also horse shows, gaucho skills and stands of food and crafts.

The breeds

Also part of it, and being written: Aberdeen Angus (The leading breed of the Argentine pampas.).
