Cattle show
An event where cattle are exhibited and judged against breed standards for prizes.
Also: agricultural show, livestock show, county show
Cattle shows bring breeders together to show their animals and compete for prizes, and are part of agricultural shows around the world, from county shows in Britain and state fairs in the United States to royal shows in Australia and pashu melas in India. Animals are washed, clipped and groomed for days beforehand and led into the ring on halters, where a judge places them by breed and class, ending with champions and a supreme champion. Shows help set breed type, add value to winning bloodlines and draw the public to farming. Many have classes for young handlers, who are judged on how well they present the animal.
