National Western Stock Show
Sixteen January days of cattle judging, sales and rodeo in Denver, held since 1906 and one of the oldest stock shows in the West.

Cattle at National Western Stock Show
The National Western Stock Show has been held in Denver every January since 1906. It is above all a breeding-stock show: ranchers bring their bulls and heifers to be judged, sold and seen, and the pens of the Yards fill with bulls of dozens of breeds. Junior exhibitors show their own animals, and the catalogue sales set prices that the ranching world follows. Around the cattle there are rodeos, horse shows, a stock dog trial and a western trade fair. The show opens with a parade of longhorn cattle through downtown Denver, and the city's restaurants put on their steak menus for the fortnight.
