Polled
Naturally hornless, born without horns because of an inherited gene.
Also: hornless, muley, hummel, naturally hornless
A polled animal is one born hornless by inheritance, not dehorned. Whole breeds are polled, among them the Aberdeen Angus, Galloway, Red Poll and British White, and polled lines exist in many horned breeds, such as the Polled Hereford. In older British speech hornless cattle were muleys or, in Scotland, hummels. Farmers value polled cattle because they are safer to handle, take less space at a feeder and spare calves dehorning. The trait follows a single dominant gene, so a bull carrying two copies will sire only polled calves whatever the cow. Some polled cattle grow loose horny scurs, which are inherited separately.
