Cattle at Fieldays

Fieldays has been held at Mystery Creek, outside Hamilton in the Waikato, since 1969, and it is the largest agricultural event in New Zealand. It runs for four days in mid-June, in the winter quiet before calving, and brings together farmers, machinery dealers, researchers and visitors in their tens of thousands. The Waikato is the centre of New Zealand's pastoral dairy farming, in which cows graze outdoors all year, and many of the exhibits deal with milking, pasture and herd breeding. Competitions range from fencing and tractor driving to the selection of young farmers of the year.
